Mechanicville, New York — A profound sense of grief has settled over the city of Mechanicville following a devastating incident that claimed the lives of four children and two adults, leaving families, classmates, neighbors, and the broader community searching for answers and supporting one another through an unimaginable loss.
The tragedy unfolded Tuesday evening when officers with the Mechanicville Police Department responded to a residence on Harris Avenue at approximately 6:20 p.m. to conduct a welfare check.

Law enforcement later identified those involved as 44-year-old Sarah Myers, her four children — Harper Myers, Hudson Myers, Gracelynn Myers, and Gavin Myers — and Amy Steadman, identified as Sarah’s mother.
Police have stated that there is currently no known threat to the public.
